For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had problems with my skin – and I know this is common among most. Just to clarify, when I say problems, I mean acne prone areas and dryness. Now, I appreciate that people may suffer from more acne than myself and think my skin isn’t bad compared to theirs… but at the end of the day, it’s my skin and how I feel – and we all want to feel happy in our own skin, right?
Before I begin, I just want to clarify that I am obviously no skin expert and have no professional knowledge. However, over the years I have become rather experienced with trying many different skin products – from your cheap and (not so) cheerful drugstore facial cleansers, scrubs and creams to your more expensive dermatologist recommendations. I’ve also cut out wearing lots of face makeup (which surprisingly didn’t do much), stopped eating certain foods (eg ketchup as apparently that can give you spots due to the vinegar), bought a face steamer and spent money on expensive facials. However, nothing has seemed to be a sustainable fix to my acne prone areas.
Over the last six months, I kind of got pretty fed up with spending a lot of money on products that weren’t really doing much for my skin – so I just stopped buying them and instead bought a bar of soap (Pears soap if you’re wondering as it has been tested by dermatologists)… and hey, my skin has never been better.
For my daily skin routine, I simply just wash my face twice a day (morning and evening) with hot soap and water. After this, I then add a little moisturiser (Clinique Moisture Surge) and my skin always feels smooth, soft and clean. This routine has allowed me to save time, money and I’ve never had better skin – bonus!!
If I was to say that I don’t use any products, I would be lying, as I do – but only every now and again. At the minute, I am loving the Origins GinZing Refreshing Scrub if I’m wanting to exfoliate my face – which I do perhaps once or twice a week – and no joke, this scrub smells like Terry Chocolate Oranges, I’d highly recommend it. The second product I use – if/when I get the odd dreaded white head – is the Origins Super Spot Remover which is amazing, it dries up any spot and helps cure it instantly.
